This Avid Catalina, built by John on Expercraft.com, is a fairly rare build of an interesting flying boat.

Catalina production ceased after 2003. However, an estimated 100 units of the plane were built, and the FAA website is showing 15 Catalinas currently registered. Catalinas have a three-seat cabin, a single pusher engine, and a boat hull. They're constructed from welded steel tubing, with fabric wings and a fiberglass hull.

This is a highly detailed build of an unusual plane. The builder does not hold back the details or pics, which include a long construction process and even an occasional homemade tool.
