PlaneBuilds.net: Sopwith Pup by Glenn Burt

This Sopwith Pup was built by Glenn Burt on OurGreatPhysician.com.

The Sopwith Pup was a British biplane that was first used in World War I. It was legendary for its easy flying characteristics and maneuverability.

Glenn built this Sopwith Pup from a kit provided by Airdrome Airplanes. This is a full-scale kit, and Glenn is currently working on adding a replica Vickers machine gun.

The Sopwith Pup was famous for being the first plane to land on an aircraft carrier, in August of 1917. It had no brakes, and the first landing was assisted by crewmen who grabbed leather straps hanging from the Pup's wings.

And I was not joking about that leather-strap-grab aircraft carrier landing!
