WHile it may look like the 3 copper conductors are bare conductors, that is a cladding wrapped around an insulated conductor. The wrapping or white binding material is usually not the final process in making cabling of this type. After a cable is spooled onto the large reel at the end of the assembly line, that reel will be placed in another process where the cable is spooled off into another spin wrapping machine similar to this one only this time wrapping the cable with several steel wires Very large cable could have as many as 20 or more such spools of wire being spun around the cable wrapping it again then coating it with a hard rubber or plastic outer protective layer making it water proof for direct bury
Never try to tell me it can't be done

Not this cable, but smaller stuff like cab tire. They use consumable/remeltable lead dies to form the jackets for those things. So after handling this stuff wash your hands or your nuts will rot off and you'll go senile.
