    Powerstroke diesel specialty tools

Here is the first of many specialty tools that I have built up for repairing powerstroke diesles. I will add them to the thread as I dig them out and make a few more along the way.

The first in this series of specialty tools is an in truck injector cup removal tool. With it the injector cups can be removed with out having to pull the head or remove the rocker arms.

The operation is done by threading the pipe tap into the injector cup with the top nut on the tool. Usually 3 to 4 turns is more than enough to yank one out and many times they give way before then. If they have been done previously or are difficult it helps to preheat the cups with a propane torch to help loosen the lockette that holds them in, but I usually find this step unnecessary. After tighten the bottom nut and they come out.

The tool is made with a 1" pipe tap, piece of 5/8 all thread, 5/8 washer, and a 1 3/8" 3/4" drive socket. It's mostly sourced from everyone's favorite discount tool supplier HF. Construction is simple, the all thread is welded to the pipe tap and then assembled as shown. After the top nut is welded to the all thread.
