Visited South Padre Island a couple decades ago. Met a jovial fellow from Canada that had driven his motorhome down for the winter. He had a tarp over the front of the cab where the windshield used to be. When I asked him what happened, he explained that he was attempting to jerk (it's called slingshotting) a stuck pickup out of the sand when the chain broke where it was attached to the truck, and flew toward him. Fortunately, he ducked when the chain came through the windshield.
Second tale... the guy that replaced my knees told of a similar story of a farmer that got his tractor stuck. So, an attempt was made to slingshot it with a pickup. He was standing close to the pickup when the chain broke at the tractor end, and blew out his lower leg. He was a couple hundred miles from Billings with no doctor available when the compartment syndrome hit him. The local PA was afraid to try to relieve the pressure, so the guy had to drive to Billings to find my orthopod.
