I use match sticks or toothpicks with a dab of PVA. - same concept, but easier to find around my house, or someone else I often help out.

I still use cedar shims and whittle a peg. But this is great if you want to sacrifice golf Tees.

I've seen that done with bamboo skewers, as a locksmith by trade for 40 years, I use brass inserts in the door with epoxy holding them after being threaded into the door.

Tapered wooden dowels; the only decent object of golf.
Golf would benefit of something to juice up the game; introduce a defense aspect. Imaginee having camouflaged guys hide in bushes and throw ball back?

Fancy. I have never seen that and installed many hundreds of doors and door lock sets. Seeing and always learning something new is why I am on here in the first place!

I have the perfect solution - mine the fairways.

A bouncing Betty in every hole would lend a pleasant element of surprise too.

Now you're talking. Probably why I haven't played golf for over 20 years. Liked it. But expensive.

    My favorite observation on golf...

Golf is a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into an even smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose.
