The downside is the would-be victim could very likely be charged and prosecuted for spraying fuel like that. In these crazy times - especially here in what USED TO BE the home of the free - anything goes, and unfortunately it now normally goes in favor of those in those who commit the wrongdoing.

The definition of an outlaw, is someone who, by their actions places themselves OUTSIDE the protection of the law. I'm with the zippo.

The outlaws, like many perpetrators, are the root cause. While dealt with harshly somewhere, they flourish elsewhere; more liberal, 'more civil' societies. Most if not all that nonsense is due lax enforcement and slick lawyers.
At this instant, 216 seen this post. If that was a jury, no reasonable member would see other than blatant hijack attempt and aggression towards the customer, and not merely one-on-one. He reacted with means at hand, no manner of premeditation or offense. I'd say his reaction was delayed long enough to recognize threat. I'm also sure the defense would try to whitewash them as panhandlers. If representing the customer, I'd let him float that along, well before exhibiting the tape.

The Blaze said it happened in Chile. To do it here one would have to skin back the vapor recovery system with the other hand.
Might be a good idea to practice that maneuver.

Not everywhere. We don't have that nonsense in Oklahoma, though I remember running into something like that when I was last in Cali, in 2004.

Somehow I'm reminded of that Terry Pratchett quote:
Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Where those criminals deserve to wind up, is said to be plenty warm; all of the time.

Unaware of Terry Pratchett until moments ago. Very likeable thinker, I'd say........."Go on, prove me wrong. Destroy the fabric of the universe. See if I care."
