    What causes that pin to shear? Next time out in the shop I'll have to check my lathe to see if it has a shear pin like that.

    1 turning on the lathe with the split-nut engaged and hitting the work piece
    2 improper angles on tool bit – broken tool - result part spins in chuck
    3 back feeding and hitting the tail stock
