    Replacing my air compressor pump

The pump on my Devilbiss air compressor was tired and it was time for a replacement. After some internet searching and pump pricing I decided on a Rolair (chinook) K-30 pump. I offset the compressor on the tank top plate rather then make new adjustment slots for the motor. It's a 60 gallon tank and its powered by a 5 HP. 3450 motor. The new pump is half as loud as the previous pump and has more cfm., it displaces 21 cfm and has 17 delivered cfm. with a pump RPM. of about 850.

At first glance I saw the pulley out towards the end of the shaft and I wondered why not just die grind the slots for the compressor head then I noticed the much wider base the head had than the slots. It looked like it could have fit but the nuts might have been in the radius of the mounting plate.
Never try to tell me it can't be done

The compressor head would just fit on the top plate with some new holes, that's partly why I chose this pump. The problem is that the pulley is far enough from the pump that belt alignment with the motor would require moving the motor and cutting new adjustment slots in the tank plate, also I keep the compressor near the wall and offsetting the pump gets the flywheel/fan further from the wall which is better for air flow.
