Doesn't look like a very efficient way of lifting a tree off a person.

I'm guessing it would depend on the circumstances, and location. A 3-point lift system reduces the chance to the tree shifting while being raised, if placement is at optimal angles. The spin lock safeties on the hyd. cylinders assure, they will not accidently bleed off in event of a broken hose. Trees are notorious about not acting as you think they should limb age makes them more dangerous roots that may be keeping a tree from rolling can break at the worst time. Even if you had a yarder to pick the tree off of a victim you can find yourself or the victim in an even more dangerous situation if you try to use the yarder with its claw to lift a tree.
Never try to tell me it can't be done
