I don't know what type of scanner that is, but there are some really decent ones you can get for the pro-sumer market. About $1200 will get you something that will do about 99% of jobs. The Einscan is the one I've been looking at, but there are a few other really good options.

There was a reality crime show called Crime 360 in which they used a laser scanner to document the crime scene. It enabled them to refer to it to determine the exact locations of the items concerned with the scene. You can still watch it on Roku and probably other media.

There was another one (not reality crime) with Donald Sutherland called "Crossing Lines" about an international "police" organization that solved cross-border (crossing lines) cases in Europe. Apparently there was little cooperation between some countries regarding crime so criminals would commit a crime then disappear into another country and typically get away with it until this group investigated. One of them used a camera system that would reconstruct a crime scene that could be a couple of acres to investigate potential scenarios. They brought it back to their crime lab and could view a 3D hologram of the crime scene and zoom in on certain areas. Great show! It had Donald Sutherland but also Tom Wlaschiha, William Fichtner, Marc Lavoine, Goran Visnjic, Elizabeth Mitchell, Richard Flood, Ray Stevenson, Kim Coates, Carrie-Anne Moss. Great cast and stories. Worth the watch.
