First time I saw one of these was in the I G Farben building in Frankfurt Germany in 1975. Never did see a big crowd of people waiting for one. Tks for the memory.

I remember them from my early days in Germany, I heard that they are now banned with one left as a "Museum" piece. Strange thing is that my mother would ride on those but was afraid of escalators.

There was one where my Dad worked, in the 1950s, it was a wide open continuous flat belt w/flip steps and a "grab bar" at about waist height. It ran continous, going up or down one just stepped on and then stepped off at the desired floor. It was called a Humphery manlift.
