    That might be part of the act. You don't really see her abdomen getting compressed.

    When I was a kid, there was a big story about Paul Revere (of Paul Revere and the Raiders - I'm not that old) being rushed to the hospital after being electrocuted by grabbing two microphone stands. My brother was at that concert in Ohio. A few months later, we were visiting our cousin in North Dakota and she had a picture on her wall of Paul Revere being electrocuted by grabbing two microphone stands. My brother told her that he was at that concert. She said there was no way he was there because it just happened last week in Fargo.

    It would be a lot harder to pull such a stunt now with the instantaneous news and Google image search. But at that time, it was a way to get free publicity that has stuck with me for over 50 years. (I don't recall any of their hits, though I am going to google that next.)
