    This was Japan right? are we to assume that none of the police had trained with the BO. A training Bo with 1 end padded similar to the US Military training aid Pugil stick is the best mostly non damaging defensive weapon in a case like this. Make a feigned jab towards her face then at the last instant when she brings her hands up to block the thrust make a quick powerful left and right swing to disarm the person. then a jab to the gut will fold them like limp noodles a 2nd officer could cuff them while the officer with the BO kept control. No drawn-out drama no Jackie Chan theatrics. And best of all no one close enough to sharp shiny objects while they are being wielded.
    Ok maybe it was China or another of the oriental countries Training is everything no matter the country. And the police of this country should all be military vets
