    Saying hello

Old retired guy, so make some homemade tools, but mostly here to look up stuff for my older son, he's taken an interest in blacksmithing, with not a lot to spare for tools. So, will mostly be looking for stuff he can make for himself. He works long hours during the week, then has his kids on the weekends, so little time to work on stuff, let alone search the web. We're about 10 miles or so east of Raleigh. I retired from the Army here.

Thanks. I'm thinking probably tongs, of various types and sizes. I'll be going thru the whole site as I get time.

For my self, I usually do woodworking, mostly canes just now, sometimes wooden figure banks. I make masters/patterns for routing out my different designs and figures. Make glue up jigs as needed. Also planer sleds, saw sleds, all my own shop stands, tool stands, etc. It's 99% Zen woodworking, I know what I want to make, but don't really know how. So, I start cutting plywood, fitting it together, gluing it, and then when I'm finished, I have just what I need/want. And usually don't really know how I did it. I think I have figured out how my saw stand was made, looks like an art deco piece, but still haven't figured out for sure how I made my router table top and the router plates. However, I've been happy with it for over 10 years, so not complaining.
