    If you are just going to melt it down anyway, whats the point? The art of salvage is knowing what is worth saving for reuse/resale and what is just scrap. They can still save the axles, etc from that truck if they want, and with all of the scrap removed it is easier to get the good parts off. If it is any good, they could also save that whole rear frame assembly and axle assembly and sell it whole, let the buyer take it apart.

    I worked at an auto salvage yard back in the 70's. Many times, we would cut a car totally in half with a "rescue saw". Scrap the front or back 1/2 as necessary. The remaining 1/2 takes less space to store.
