Pedestrians crossing the Major highways in Kuwait got so bad there for a while the Government put out a memorandum that a driver accidently striking a pedestrian even if the person was killed, no fine would be issued.
It was a pretty safe bet that anyone driving a medium to large sized truck would be an expat. The Kuwaiti male children ranging in ages from 13 to 25 had a game they played by running out on the Ring Road, "same as our Interstates", in front of a truck to make them swerve into another lane causing an accident. the owner of the company where I was senior engineer, was riding on one of our Half lorries when his driver started to swerve and miss a boy. Saad Told him to just run over the idiot, He didn't but stopped they got out when Saad saw the kid was his oldest boy, he ripped his ghutra off his head rolled it into a rope and gave the boy a good thrashing. Hauled him to a police station and told them to lock the kid up for a month. They don't argue with a High Sheik when he tells a police Col. to lock his own kid up in a cell.
Never try to tell me it can't be done

Squirrels have the excuse that they're very short-sighted, and have brains the size of a small walnut. Human kids don't. But they do believe they're immortal and impervious. Which they're not.
I'm told that when I was about 4, I walked into the house shaking my head and muttering. "I don't understand it. I just don't understand it." Grandma asked what I didn't understand. She says I told her that I walked out in the street and didn't get run over by a car. She lived at the intersection of Leland and Leffingwell Roads in South Whittier. Both very busy streets, but Leffingwell was a 4-lane in the early 60's. She'd always told me that if I walked out into the street I'd get run over by a car. She was a crossing guard for the school down the road, and had one student die in her arms after being hit by a car, and prevented a few more of those accidents. It's a wonder that any child survives childhood if they're all like I was back then.
