The ball mounts for the 'S" cam shafts on the latest low boy trailer I am working on were in bad shape so I decided to replace them rather than reinforce them New brackets can be bought with the bushing kits in what is called the ball cup kit. I used the new cups on the previous trailer but didn't need the brackets.
Now the problem was to make sure they were perfectly lined up for install so as not to cause un due wear on the rest of the components
Enter one hydraulic cylinder rod I have for repairing a cylinder with a bent rod it was 1 1/2" in diameter and long enough to extend through both brake spiders just the perfect fit



As you can see the ball mounts with balls and cups installed on the rod hold the mount brackets in perfect alignment
