Shoe wear simulator. Not sure if this is an actual device for testing shoe wear, or if this is some sort of kinetic modern art. Either way, excellent.

ROFL! Many many moons ago I worked at General Foods Research Center in Tarrytown NY, in the food physics lab. We did stuff like evaluate new formulations of bran flakes for stability in milk (yes, quantitatively determining how long they stay crunchy in milk!), among other things.
One of our tool fixtures (everything was centered around our Instron Universal Testing Machine ) was a pair of dentures connected to a frame with similar geometry as the human jaw that we 'fed' things to. In the end it didn't really work out as well as we'd hoped, but we kept it around the lab for visiting day :-)
Perfect example of how most people wrongly plant their feet when walking. Heal first instead of touching down with the ball of their foot first as athletes do, or with their whole foot as did many of the Native tribes of by gone years.
Never try to tell me it can't be done
