    Ever wanted a long caliper?

I made these up to try and get a little better accuracy when measuring longer than my purpose built calipers could. I've already used them more than I thought I would.

Very nice craftsmanship and must be satisfying. But $14 here saves your precious time.

Hi Occasional machinist. Very nice job that you have done there, I like the depth of measurement that you have ended up with. For measuring repetitive layout work I use these that Toeldo and others have made. See link below.

The Toeldo ones are expensive but there other ones on the internet that are cheaper.

    Thank Trevor

Hi Marv, that is a very good idea to use a combination square, I never have of thought of that one.

    Thanks Trevor

Yes, although they are trammels, so can't easily be used as a depth or measurement stop

Nice use, but I have verniers that can measure that far. These were intended for work up to a metre (or more) in size.

I guess these are closest to a version of that, although I probably have a wider range of rule width I can clamp.

Thanks for all the comments. Michael

$14 for you but maybe not in other countries. Shipping + customs + tax from the US can often turn a bargain into a mortgage. I just looked on Spanish Amazon and the price is 67 euros about US $70. Not all forum members are in the US although many assume that to be the case.

$14.50 on US Amazon is about 13.38.But shipping is the killer. About 26.30 (US, 1st class Parcel Post) i.e., the slow boat! I would be happy to get if for you if you want it for half the price you listed. Total about 39. Latest exchange rate here.

I think with all the high quality postings from all over the world it's fairly myoptic to assume its US content only. There is a gentleman from Spain that posts good stuff as well as others from Aus, NZ, UK, Poland, etc. :-)

But I think when one lists an Amazon price in their country they are focusing on that country without making a world-wide disclaimer. I'll be more careful in the future. Thanks.
