Simple Bench Vice Mod

putting o-rings is a simpler way but its not even close to being the same. i have done the o-rings i have used tape, plasticish coatings. but i always go back to drilling and tapping a hole. i have not done the ball and detente i have just used a knob with a threaded post and just tighten it when i need it to stay and loosen it when i want it to move. i will try the detente tonight on a new to me vise. the only issue is sometimes its hard to tap the hole if the handle is not easily removed and is tight in the hole.

I have several vices and I have used and owned many others. The Record vice shown here is the best and the Wilton that I have is the worst.
