Handled slot punches made from old hatchets.
Hatchets are a popular item to forge, but handleless hatchets are two a penny. All I had to do was cut off bits and sand the remainder.

Never got a chance but always thought of using a go-devil splitting maul to make a hot cut, or re forging an adze into a gutter adze. Thanks for posting
Ya know Phillip something that I like to do from time to time is take an old axe head and refurbish and rehandle it to restored condition. There's something really satisfying to me about fully restoring an axe so that it works well and looks nice. Using it for various things is the icing on that cake.
I just had a thought - something that would be fun here is to have an axe restoration contest. Let it run for say 6 months and then get the mods to choose a winner and maybe even create a special award badge for the winner. At the very least a bunch of guys would have nice axes to use that they didn't have before. I think I'll suggest it to Jon.
Good! You got a competitor here!
I just sent a report to the mods suggesting the same.
Now I need to see what my old axe needs to be a contest princess.
