A small mandrel for turning larger diameter pieces.

I made this mandrel a few years ago while making some threaded spacers for another project. I just dug it out to use it while I was making an adapter plate for the steering wheel in my van project.

The small pilot is sized .422 for a 1/2-13 tap drill. Drill the pilot and bolt on the mandrel and the part is ready to turn.

I made the adapter out of a chunk of 1/2" plate. I knocked the corners off in the H/V bandsaw.

    Ready to chuck up.

Knocking the high spots off. I take shallow cuts here. No need to hurry.

The adapter will get painted satin black to match the rest of the column.

    Thanks for looking

I like your solution for clamping odd shaped work in your bandsaw. I've had that problem but never so simple a solution.

    Thanks Carlos,
I've been clamping stuff like this for years. Didn't even think about it. It only takes light pressure to secure the work so there is no harm to the saw at all.
