Snow melter with fighter jet engine - photo

I remember going to the first California 500 at the Ontario Motor Speedway and the jet engine mounted on the back of a truck to dry the track as it was a rainy day...
That was in 1970...

Lancaster speedway in NY state had one for years.

They use the same sorta thing at Santa Pod, UK. A lot better designed that that Green Thing.

We had a self contained rail cleaning machine with a jet engine that traveled the tracks at the steel mill. When they fired it up it scared everybody. You had to have a death wish to be anywhere near it. It cleared and melted snow and ice but it consumed huge amounts of fuel, which I figured would make the fire ball larger if it would blow up . Fortunately it would break down more than it ran.
