The poof from the vent holes atop the 'hammer'; it would depend on soil, weight and height, wonder how much compaction occurs.

Try that at my place and you would need an excavator to find the drop weight.

I've walked on it, remember? I'm short, but 11.5 boot a decent snowshoe, so to speak.
Can't imagine how shop floor is so solid; even with your post on compaction.
