On the installations that I have seen, the duct work is just highly polished metal ducting but about half as thick as older furnace type ducting. It then had an insulation cover much like flexible HVAC ducting. Angles did not appear to matter much as it all basically forms a giant mirrored tube. The light rays will eventually be reflected to the interior.
