It was a heavy truck. Watch the video again. There is a readout at the top of the video display. The truck driver was on the brakes at 0.74G's just a bit after the car hit the speed limit sign.

At the bottom of the screen is another read out. I think it is for steering input, if you notice before the car speeds by on the input is very minor, just before it appears on the left, there is a steering correction, then major ones as the car flips in front of the truck, then they settle down again as he pulls off the road.

I would like to have a set up like that when I drive.

I not did see that display, is that some thing the driver can see?

If I had to guess I would say it is not something the driver see while is is driving. I did not see it at first. I saw it after I looked at the video a few times. I think that a lot of trucking companies are installing these for defense against idiot drivers.

Actually I think the trucking companies are installing them as a defense against the ambulance chasing anti truck attorneys. and highway patrols.

Also good for tracking driver 'habits' that can cost them dear in fuel and wear, major bus operators in the UK adopted for those reasons along with the evidential protection provided if involved in a crash, they also use the evidence to dismiss drivers who abuse vehicles or are found to be dangerous.

It is amazing the driver of that car survived at all. A lot of assumptions could be made about the cause of this accident.

Interesting that it appears the truck's windshield is covered with some kind of liquid there at the end. I wonder if that was fuel or radiator fluid from the car?

There are indeed lots of assumptions, but also lots of facts available. IF the video is indeed real.

Facts
1) From DO NOT PASS sign and road paint, the road is transitioning from 2 lane to 1 lane.

2) From the display, the truck is initially traveling between 61-63 mph

3) From counting frames, the truck is passing centerline delineator every 4 frames. 4 frames per post ≈ 60 mph

4) When the car first enters the frame, it is already out of shape.

5) Initially the car passes a delineator every 2 frames. 2 frames per post ≈ 120 mph

6) The car had no visible aerodynamic enhancements that would assist with high speed stability.

7) Trucks "push" a huge "bow wave" in front that moves your car around as you pass.

8) The road was clearly one lane well before the car reached the front of the truck.

Assumptions and speculation.

1) The car driver did not want to get stuck behind the truck as the road narrowed. He speeded up to pass. (We have all done that I assume)

2) The car was traveling in excess of 100, perhaps 120 mph.

3)The car itself was also pushing a lot of air

3) The car and truck bow waves collided and pushed the car toward the delineators.

4) The car was already perilously close to the delineators since it was a one lane road at this point.

5) The driver was unprepared for the sudden move to the left.

6) The driver over corrected. In addition the driver was probably not quick enough and the correction was made AFTER the car had blown past the bow wave. At that point the correction was unnecessary.

7) Since the car was already "light" on its wheels from the excessive speed, the rear tried to pass the front.

At that point the driver was just along for the ride.

That is the way I see it happening.

Glad it was not me in the car OR the truck!!!
