Spokeshave (body)
Attachment 43911
I have had a 4” spokeshave blade in a drawer for years. I could not have made this I I did not already have a smaller one. This helped mark out the shape, as well as the bevel for the mouth, but especially for the taper allowance to give the tangs, although most of the measurements I took from the blade. I was pleased that I did not cock it up, with so many variables. I prefer a wooden spokeshave, although the wood wears away, but a brass strip will remedy this. The material is beech, from a deckchair.
I shall put some linseed oil on it, (when it’s out of the house!)
