spot face cutter from a drill bit

What do you do with an old drill bit that has outlived most of its usefulness ?
Answer, turn it into something else
I chucked this 1" drill bit in my lathe covered the bed then cut off the bit with a grinder then ground away much of the remaining fluting thenfinished off by turning it with a carbide cutter when nearing the base of the fluting on most drill bits you have gone past most of the induction hardening and they can be turned without much difficulty
Someone remind me that I need to build a tool post grinder though
after shaping the end like i needed it I took it to the bench grinder and ground a slight relief to the remaining flutes
I need to reharden it but figure this was a one-off job anyway
