    Static Balancing Jig

I made this jig for static balancing all the electric motor armatures on my machines, I know that dynamically balancing is the proper way but I have had pretty good luck with this method over the years, And it's a lot cheaper, If you take your time you can have pretty darn good results,

The 2 bases were made from 1" X 2" X 8" long 1018 CRS precision ground all over, the 4 columns were made from 5/8" round 303 stainless steel secured to the bases by four 5/16" socket head cap screws,

The blades were made from 1/4" X 1" X 8" long O-1 tool steel hardened and ground with a 90 degree included angle on one edge, There is a leveling screw on one end of each base, I use a 12" starrett machinist level to level the blades,

    Below are some photos

Thanks For Looking And Happy Machining

    Hi Christophe
    Thank You for your compliments.
I don't have any videos or anything setup right now, But how you use the jig is simply rest the armature shaft on the 2 blades, I usually take the bearings off and sit the armature on the blades where the bearings ride, the heavy side will always rotate to the bottom then just add little washers to the top side with some tape, once your happy with the balancing mix up some epoxy and secure them in place, it might take a little time to achieve perfection but then perfection comes with patience

It appears to function just as a wheel balancer for, say, an automotive or motorcycle wheel, if only on a somewhat smaller scale.
