Steel bed
Hi
I decided to build my new bed, standard size 160x190cm.
50x50x3mm steel tubes, stick welding. Powder paint, got a friend pretty good at this. The head is a 6cm walnut plank, 10 coats of boiled linseed oil. The slatted base is a flat area with fir thick planks.

Nice! Beautiful walnut. I like the side table.

Thank you! The original idea was to use a solid poplar burl, I found at "good price" but it was fresh cut, a bit hard to use. By chance I found this one dried in the oven, in correct size for purpose with little sapwood, I decided to go for walnut. A bit of work sanding and finishing, I used from 100 to 1500grit on the front parts. About side table, I did some tests, low position (frame , like in pic), mattress height and adjustable design. The second one was not bad, a conservative choice with local designs. The adjustable one not bad but not handy to use the bottom of bed as storage. I decided for the low profile, I'm happy!
