For some perhaps. But hammer is still in her periphery of vision.
Others have a well developed sense of rhythm. Does every drummer watch each action of percussion? Are there pianists, harpsichordists, banjo players that need observe each of two separated hand movements? Granted, the injury potential is nil, but far more complicated.

I play piano myself, so I can relate. However, I can't personally recall ever hearing anyone breaking a hand playing a musical instrument (not that it somehow hasn't weirdly happened somewhere...).

Not to get on a self righteous safety high horse, but complacency is one of the biggest reasons that people get hurt. Just like crossing railroad tracks without looking both ways just because you don't hear the train coming, it's an invitation for regret.
