    Not necessarily. I have sharpened one of them, and I'd probably prefer it, but I think you'll need to use the same pressure with one that's sharp and one that's not. To sharpen it, I used my thin strip sander, put it at an angle (flat against the sander table) and turned it a couple times. If you do this, it's probably a good idea to add some oil to the tip as the little bit of protection that's added to the nail will now, obviously, be gone.
