    I want to see whether I can extract tannin from all the acorns and galls I have to sweep up that is sufficiently acidic to etch steel. If citric acid works ( and it does) then I think this should as well!

    I don't know about that but the acid from the hackberry trees will etch paint quite well.
    Never try to tell me it can't be done
    When I have to paint I use KBS products
