Taping grout lines - GIF

Entirely too much time and tape wasted on a simple job that was not even done well enough to last. Why else would grouting trowels are pointed if not to push an amount of grout into the spaces by the edge, then trowel away the excess. Once the grout dries a wet sponge will clean up

I'm wondering if that was caulking he was applying? Though why caulking and not grout?. I've used this technique to make a nice looking caulk line because I suck at it otherwise.

That is how I caulked the saw cuts in my concrete floor. They are a few inches deep and can collect all sorts of things. I did the same proceedure except I used "old fashioned" masking tape which is inexpensive. i used a butyl based caulk for durability.
