    It seems that a mortar and pestle made from aluminum would not work very well unless you were just mashing herbs and spices. Or perhaps muddling some mint for a mixed drink.

    Probably so. That reminds me of when I was younger and bought a new pair of pants or shorts and in the pocket would be a small piece of paper that said "inspected by number 12" or some other number.
