Terrific idea and concept is correct.
However, the thread form of sample should exceed desired grade of resulting part, along with each supported at both ends, otherwise this is like a pantograph magnifying errors. Second issue hinges on properly contoured thread-form grind wheel.
One potential might be converting one thread form, ACME for example, into another but same pitch, such as a knuckle thread, like that seen on light bulbs.
