I’d probably chose the technique used by carpet installation crews for super-expensive private Boeing/Airbus jets. They simply use all sizes of scraps of paper, taped together in varying positions in order to create a perfect cut-pattern for use in cutting the extremely expensive, aviation-grade, carpeting.
