I notice he messed up the nice grout pattern by laying the tile onto it while lathering the backside.

I notice he messed up the nice grout pattern by laying the tile onto it while lathering the backside.

He had only made the pattern with the leveling bar to push enough of the grout out of the way so that the tile with the bonding grout could be vibrated in place.
I've seen this done many times but never saw the little vibrator like that used. The guys I watched always used a soft rubber mallet and didn't have those fancy twist lock spacers to hold things level
