Wow, I sure hope he shut his chainsaw had a deadman switch on it, since it looks like it hit him a few times.
He'd have been fine if he hadn't tied it off... it looked like there was plenty of relatively clear area to free drop the top, but it's impossible to tell for sure if tying off the top was necessary to prevent impact damage to stuff on the ground. My tree trimming/removal career was short lived... so I could be long lived.
