Hope the watering system is at least 10" deep!
I believe this is an unusual windrower, also known as a swather. These are for cutting hay into windrows - rows of material waiting to be collected.

Unusual to say the least. They made a very lightweight unit for use on soggy ground.
Typically, hay is put into windrows to dry out in preparation for baling... but in this case I'm guessing they're going to collect it and dry it elsewhere(?), as it sure doesn't look like it's going to dry there.
Edit: Okay, I just looked this clip up on youtube... this equipment and the idea of harvesting wet grass in a bog (in a nature preserve) is proof of concept. The land is left undamaged by the lightweight machinery, but they end up using a radio controlled round baler to bale the green & wet grass. It's not for cattle feed, but perhaps for fuel pelletizing. Here's the whole clip, along with a description in English:

One thing is for sure unless they have a dehydrating vacuum chamber to draw the moisture down a lot then those wet bales will mold and rot in no time. the wet grass hay would make decent animal feed for other than cattle though or sent to processing for grinding into like was mentioned silage or pressed into pellets
Surely this is to improve the ground to stimulate growth?
No, perhaps not, now that I’ve seen the whole clip. But I can’t think what that bale is good for.
Actually those wet bales will probably smolder and start burning a few days after baling.
You can bet that is a gov't funded (useless) idea. Someone's brother in law probably got a five million dollar grant for it!:smash:
