Having lived in NW NJ for most of my life, I am no stranger to snow, One year IIRC it was 97 we had 13 snow storms in 13 weeks from 12" to 32".
I had 4' of snow on the roof, and had to shovel it off.
The south facing side was not too bad but the north side would thaw during the day then freeze at night, causing ice dams. I got the heat cables that did a real good job.
That year I had my neighbor come over with his back hoe to move snow off the end of the drive (180') because I had no more room for snow!
I then moved to WV and was never in short supply of snow, the previous owner had the heat cables on the roof even thought the pitch was 24/12 (yes 24/12).
I now live in NC, this last "blizzard" we got 1/2" it's gone already.
