What you are seeing in that footage is an Australian invention used in the tropical north, where the water buffalo reached plague proportions in the 1960’s.
This device replaced a lasso on a pole that was extremely dangerous to both man and beast.
The buffalo where imported here from Asia to be farmed decades before but that enterprise failed and the buffalo turned feral.
The vehicle of choice to mount the mechanical arm to is the Toyota Land Cruiser because they are the most common vehicle in that part of the country.
For high speed work in that terrain older vehicles are used with unnecessary items like roofs, doors and windscreens removed.“Keep your Head low and go go go!”
Once a beast is captured by the arm the vehicle stops, the beast is subdued by various means, then yarded with others until loaded into trucks and taken to be processed. Not every beast is captured this way most can be herded into holding yards, but some are determined to get away.
There are many videos on the net about this exciting endeavour that are well worth watching.
