how is the post square tubing tapered? is it purchased with a taper, or tapered from square by cut and slice, or some other means?

To make the tapered post, I took a piece of square tube and cut a taper down it lengthwise. Then I capped it with a piece of metal and welded it.

Bobs409, What I like best about this is that your workbench looks just like mine. It's well loaded. It will not float away!

Just kidding.!! This looks like a great addition to my shop. I'm always propping the other end of something in the vice up or just trying to man-handle it. I think the tapered post is a great innovation. So another little project added to the list!
