Certain that is crib for this room. It was a top flight development lab, ala JPL, Rockwell, General Dynamics etc. One shot was of a Toolmaker running Kearney & Trecker Rotary Head Milling Machine.

Sophistication of this hydraulic tracer screams that level of capabilities.

Wow, an old hydraulic tracer mill cutting a turbocharger (?) turbine, that is impressive.
It's amazing how much you can do with a tracer mill. pantograph or cross slide rotary table.
May not be as fast or repeatable as a CNC, but it was done.

Keep in mind that they had turbochargers at least back in the forties, maybe earlier. Had to be making them somehow.
Just took more hands on skills to do.

And it's not to say CNC programmers and operators aren't skilled too, they are, just different skills than manual toolmakers.
