There was a box factory here in Minster, Ohio that operated until the 1960s. My mother worked there during WW2 when they transitioned from cigar boxes to packaging for the war effort. Cigar boxes were made through the 60s and everyone in town had those boxes all over the house holding pencils, etc. As I'm typing this, there are 4 El Trelles Caoronas cigar boxes in the cabinet above my computer, holding small items.

I have a single King Edward cigar box from my childhood filled with random coins and mementos collected over the years , once a very common cigar brand, perhaps it still is.

In the 1960's I hauled tobacco from Connecticut to Tampa FL.

New England area grew some of the best wrapping tobacco for cigars.

I have a few newer wooden cigar boxes slated for cigar box ukuleles. They make great sounding instruments!
