    At 00:04 it is obvious the truck has a single top loading rear end, and chain drive on both sides to the spindles, duce and half or 5 ton it is hard to tell. The thing I can't make out is how it floats away from the springs unless there is some kind of 4 or 6 link system involved

    I thought that hood looked a lot like Mercedes. gears would be better for higher speeds but silent link chain would accomplish the same results except it would take 2 chains and the beam might have to be wider like those of older Cat Motor graders
    I'm guessing the illusion that the beam is dropping from the springs may be just that if the pivot point is around the differential housing
