Warsop Benjo power rammer - video, patent, diagram

Warsop Benjo power rammer. 1:50 video:

    A diagram from the manual:

I'm wondering if this is the relevant patent, for a "Rock Drill and Like Implement", issued to H. E. Warsop in 1934:

    More: US patent #1981764

    Previously: manual rock drill

Is a Power Rammer actually what we call a compactor now? Our city street crews could use those to compact the asphalt patches so they would stay in the holes...

Similar to that, I had a German plate compactor (ironically I think it was a Wacker brand) that was bulkier and didn't jump so high : big weight difference i would think. It didn't stop till out of fuel or switched off, but then again it was a pull start with heaps of compression.

Looks more like a power post driver Just pull that flat foot off and slip over a T post or round pipe and hammer in in the ground.
Never try to tell me it can't be done

whee.... that looks to be a real treat to run for an extended period of time....

I have a Wacker Tamper Rammer for compacting dirt... otherwise known as a jumping jack.... it will wear a guy out...

The Ingersoll Rand plate compacter is easy to run... just walk behind it and guide it along.... easier than a push mower.

spent many hours with a Wacker Tamper Rammer and walked miles behind a plate compactor.

Interesting design for that vintage. Although never having used one or a plate compactor what they do and the versatility of them is pretty cool. It may be that I would use it to call the Worms on Arrakis and probably a good thing his quit before they came...
