Similar to that, I had a German plate compactor (ironically I think it was a Wacker brand) that was bulkier and didn't jump so high : big weight difference i would think. It didn't stop till out of fuel or switched off, but then again it was a pull start with heaps of compression.
whee.... that looks to be a real treat to run for an extended period of time....
I have a Wacker Tamper Rammer for compacting dirt... otherwise known as a jumping jack.... it will wear a guy out...
The Ingersoll Rand plate compacter is easy to run... just walk behind it and guide it along.... easier than a push mower.

Interesting design for that vintage. Although never having used one or a plate compactor what they do and the versatility of them is pretty cool. It may be that I would use it to call the Worms on Arrakis and probably a good thing his quit before they came...![]()
