A simple cylindrical clear acrylic shield around the punch would prevent any flesh injuring mishaps, one shot or one million cycles per minute.
One thing you can never tell by these videos is, were they posted at actual machine speed or sped up for the wow effect. When viewing it in stopped action mode using the arrow keys to advance it becomes plain that in a few of the frames at least the operator repositioned the sheet more than once between strokes, indicating to me at least that the video was probably posted at a higher speed.
Gloves? yeah that is a given when handling materials with sharp edges, but not everyone wears gloves all the time. Most of the time I rarely wear gloves even though many times I should.
