Sometimes when things are 36 years ago the memories can be foggy of exact year, we had recently installed a string of our 4 oust parking lot lifts in San Jose maybe further then 15 miles from the epicenter but not by much, being that the platforms were cable suspended from the 4 leg the string of lifts shared common legs with the next lift and the legs were mounted on grid work of 10" wide steel plates running the length of the 10 lifts in back and front and only nailed to the asphalt parking lot instead of on concrete with anchor bolts was probably what prevented any noticeable damage other than the 2ft long rebar nails backing out of the ground some.

I did not remember the year. I clearly recall. watching the players react to the ground shaking under their feet! The cameras shaking.

With 76 years of memories, some do fade with age. Some are as clear as yesterday. For others that folder is completely missing from the “file cabinet”.
